
SHEGER – Significant societal projects in the EkaLagaTafo and Kura Jida districts were inaugurated yesterday by Sheger City, marking a pivotal moment in the city’s development.
During the inauguration ceremony, the EkaLagaTafo District Administrator Chala Adare announced the completion of five existing projects alongside 19 new initiatives with a total investment of 5.8 billion Birr.
“These projects are designed to enhance the quality of life for our residents and reflect our commitment to sustainable development,” Chala stated, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in the planning and execution of these projects.
Sheger City Mayor Teshome Adugna (PhD) highlighted the remarkable economic progress that the city has experienced since its establishment.
“Our city has undergone transformative changes, and this is just the beginning. Enhanced resource management has been fundamental to our success,” he remarked. The Mayor further noted that the projects will create numerous job opportunities, fostering economic growth and stability in the state.
In addition, Mayor Teshome revealed that out of a total of 384 projects planned for the current year, 308 have been earmarked for construction at a substantial investment of 17.7 billion Birr, funded by the government. “This ambitious plan demonstrates our dedication to building a better future for all residents of Sheger,” he added.
Teshome also mentioned on-going collaborations with local businesses and international partners to ensure the sustainability and success of these initiatives. “We are not just building infrastructure; we are building a community that thrives on innovation and cooperation,” he emphasized.
Sheger City’s projects are characterized by efficient execution and high quality, demonstrating a commitment not only to initiate but also to successfully complete each endeavour. Community members expressed their excitement and optimism about the future, with many attending the ceremony to celebrate the positive changes taking shape in their neighbourhoods, according to the Mayor.
